چکیده

Among possibilities of remote sensing for urban uses, extraction of street networks is an important topic. A good knowledge of the street network is necessary for urban planning, map updating or estimation of atmospheric pollution. Moreover, an assisted street extraction from remotely sensed data can highly help cities which do not have a cartography of their road network. However, if road extraction from rural or semi-rural area images has led to encouraging results, the urban context, because of its complexity and the numerous artefacts encountered, is still a new and challenging topic. The context of our current work is urban area and high spatial resolution imagery. In order to help image interpreters, we are concerned about extracting and updating street networks. In this paper, we present a complete methodology adapted to those aims. It includes the definition of a reference object for quantitative evaluation and also the processing algorithm. The extraction process is then applied on a high resolution IKONOS image. Results and future prospects are finally discussed

Urban street mapping using Quickbird and Ikonos images

This article addresses the problem of urban street mapping from new high resolution satellite images. The proposed algorithm is divided in two sequential modules: a topologically correct graph of the street network is first extracted, and streets are then extracted as surface elements. The graph of the network is extracted by a following algorithm which minimizes a cost function. The surface ex...

Object-Oriented Method for Automatic Extraction of Road from High Resolution Satellite Images

As the information carried in a high spatial resolution image is not represented by single pixels but by meaningful image objects, which include the association of multiple pixels and their mutual relations, the object based method has become one of the most commonly used strategies for the processing of high resolution imagery. This processing comprises two fundamental and critical steps towar...

Digital surface model extraction with high details using single high resolution satellite image and SRTM global DEM based on deep learning

The digital surface model (DSM) is an important product in the field of photogrammetry and remote sensing and has variety of applications in this field. Existed techniques require more than one image for DSM extraction and in this paper it is tried to investigate and analyze the probability of DSM extraction from a single satellite image. In this regard, an algorithm based on deep convolutional...

Automated Road Network Extraction Using Collaborative Linear and Surface Models

The availability of very high spatial resolution satellite images over urban areas is recent. The very high spatial resolution enables a real representation of streets on a map, but generates a significant increase of noise. A state-of the-art on road and street extraction with the evolution from linear to surface models for road and street is proposed. Then, a method for extracting urban stree...
